Rain

This song features the sounds of a reed bed that I recorded along the Fife Coastal Path in Scotland. As well as the rustling of the reeds, if you listen carefully you might also be able to make out some birdsong, a passing bee (around eleven seconds in!), the crackling of a thistle-head (recorded in the studio) and even a banjo.

Credits

Merlyn Driver: vocals, acoustic guitar, thistle head
Viljam Nybacka: banjo

Original composition by Merlyn Driver

I feel most spiritual when I’m out in the woods. I feel part of nature. Or looking up at the stars. [I used to say] I was an  atheist. Now I say, it’s all according to your definition of God. According to my definition of God, I’m not an atheist.  Because I think God is everything. Whenever I open my eyes I’m looking  at God. Whenever I’m listening to something I’m listening to God

Lyrics

Let's build a temple of our own

By the night

Come all you non-believers

Come build with me

But let's not have it linger

Let us take the whole thing down

So by the hour that we wake

There will be not a trace left of us

Of all the rules we made

And we'll say, "all we need ..."

"All we need is a little bit of rain" [ x 4 ]

And when you're standing on the edge

Looking down at all creation

It is the rain that blows on through

To let the desert bloom anew

When all is calm

And all is still ...

All we need is a little bit of rain [ x 3 ]

All we need is a little bit of sun
